About Reforged Items
Despite our best efforts, foam isn’t a perfect material to work with and an otherwise great piece will occasionally come out looking less than ideal. When that happens, we classify it as “Reforged”, previously known as “Refurbished”. Calimacil uses this term in order to offer a quality product at a reduced price!
What does “reforged” mean?
Unlike with refurbished electronic products, reforged weapons are not second-hand and were never defective. From the word “furbish” of which one meaning is the action to prepare one’s weapon for combat, to polish it, etc., we refurbish imperfect products after the first furbishing brings visual defects to light. In essence, we use the term “refurbished” for products that require retouching due to minor esthetic imperfections.
What to expect
Appearance
All reforged products are painted the same as their premium counterparts.
The product you receive will likely not correspond exactly to photos in regards to details. Due to the variable nature of visual defects in foam, two reforged items sold under the same name will almost invariably bear different flaws. Furthermore, we cannot predict what specific flaws will appear on the reforged product you order.
There is a limit on the extent of larger defects as well as on the amount of imperfections that can appear on a reforged product.
Safety and Durability
Calimacil is dedicated to creating quality products. Imperfections on reforged items are strictly visual and do not affect their safety.
Manufacturing defects that jeopardize safe and/or normal use are not accepted within the criteria of reforged products.
With flaws that only affect appearance, our reforged weapons are as durable as their premium counterparts and will serve you just as well in battle.
Price
All reforged products have a 15% discount on the premium regular price.
The discounted price also means that you cannot pick which flaw or lack thereof you will be getting.
Availability
As they are the result of accidents, reforged items can only be purchased when they happen to be in stock. Snap yours up before it's gone!
Warranty
All reforged products are protected under a limited 1 year warranty that covers manufacturing defects.

Types of Reforged Flaws
Repaired Bubble

Calimacil foam is a polyurethane variant. In simple terms, it consists of two liquids which, once mixed, foam up then harden to a density that varies for each recipe. While it foams up, despite our casters’ care, larger bubbles occasionally form in the foam. While this flaw is easily repairable, this reparation can remain a little visible.
Misalignment or Warping

As most of our products require manual assembly, it can occur that assembled parts aren’t aligned as well as we’d like. In other cases, the material itself was accidentally left to cure in an improper position, causing it to warp. These flaws typically aren’t noticeable unless the item is on display.
Dent

If a product was improperly cured, handled or stored and was pressed against an irregular form for an extended period of time, a dent can mar the surface. Of course, this situation doesn’t only occur at our workshop; if you accidentally store your weapon in a way that leaves a dent, time and a bit of heat typically correct most of it.
Identification Mark

In order to clearly distinguish premium from reforged, every reforged item bears an identifying mark as shown in the pictures below. For swords and daggers, this mark can be found at the base of the blade whereas other weapons will have it located in a relatively inconspicuous area. Products made prior to spring 2020 have small holes as marks, typically located on the mold line near where the current mark would be. In both cases, the marks cause no damage to the product and are intended to be subtle.
