Description

LET ME TELL YOU A WAR STORY, LADDIE…

Whether a novice or a veteran you rely on solid armour to protect you. Epic Armoury’s RFB Veteran Armour is an elegant leather cuirass designed to protect your torso from harm. The armour is constructed from chrome-tanned split leather and carefully stitched around the edges to create a simple yet aesthetic design with lines suggesting a slim waist and broad shoulders. Secure it tightly over the chest and abdomen using the four sturdy leather straps – each riveted with decorative brass studs – and brass buckles. The strong leather lacing at the flanks allows you to further adjust the fit if needed

Hemmed with additional soft split leather to keep it from deforming with excessive wear, this armour will withstand any LARP abuse, you might force on it. The cuirass matches our Veteran Greaves and Bracers, but has a distinct, neutral style that will fit with almost any combination of costuming in the medieval and renaissance eras. Wear it over chainmail or a padded gambeson, or - for a more casual look - over a tunic or doublet, when you embark on your next adventure.

Available in colours Black and Brown, and sizes S, M, L & XL.

HISTORY

  • Inspired by “brigandine” armour from the Middle Ages, but lighter without the usual metal plates riveted into the armour
  • Inspired style came into wide use during the 15th century
  • Made from an extremely durable treated leather
  • Straps and fittings made from a durable and flexible treated leather
  • Colour is dyed into material
  • Buckles are made of solid brass or brass coated metal
  • Handmade by qualified professionals

Natural leather products are very durable but require regular maintenance with leather care products to stay flexible and to increase lifetime. Make sure your leather products are kept dry when stored. Let wet leather dry naturally before treating. If frequently wet and dry, increase frequency of maintenance.

Cleaning

Clean by removing dirt with a hard brush, then gently rub on leather soap with a clean, damp cloth until the leather appears clean. Remove soap with a separate damp cloth to wipe away any soap residue and then use a dry cloth to wipe away any remaining water from the leather.

Conditioning

You should always condition leather after cleaning, since the soap will have removed some of its natural oils. Treat the leather with mink oil, olive oil, or beeswax polish with a clean cloth, gently rubbing a small amount of oil or polish in circles into the leather. Allow the leather to soak in the oil before wiping the leather with a final clean cloth to remove any excess residue.
